Got a few Glocks a couple months ago but I've been so busy I haven't been able to go out and practice more than once. I know people aren't huge fans of Glock Sights but I really like the sights on my subcompact. Very open and easy to get a good sight picture with, which helps for its intended use

It's my understanding as well that the original Glock design was groundbreaking and revolutionary at the time.

Yeah it was, it wasn't the first of anything design wise, but it was an extremely cost effective reliable and safe firearm. It was also Gaston Glocks first attempt at a firearm, until the Glock 17 he had made curtain rods and field knives for the Austrian military.
You could say most modern firearms that are striker fired are basically glock clones because Glock nailed it almost completely on the first try
