The Dark Side of the Furry Fandom: A Critical Examination

The Furry Fandom has been marred by controversy and criticism over the years, with many outsiders viewing it as a haven for perversion and immorality. While the fandom has made efforts to distance itself from these negative aspects, they still persist and are a major factor in the fandom's poor reputation.

One of the most significant problems within the fandom is the prevalence of pedophilia and zoophilia. According to a report by the International Anthropomorphic Research Project (IARP), "a small but significant minority of furries report having engaged in online activities that could be considered problematic or even illegal" (https://www.furscience.com/10-5-furries-assessment-of-public-perception-media-coverage/). This is unacceptable and has led to the fandom being associated with these heinous activities.

The issue of pedophilia within the fandom is particularly disturbing. According to an article on The Daily Beast, "the furry fandom has a pedophilia problem" and "some furries are unapologetically pedophilic" (https://www.thedailybeast.com/furries-are-weird-and-not-just-because-of-the-costumes). This is not only morally reprehensible but also a serious concern for the safety and well-being of children.

Furthermore, the fandom's handling of pedophilia has been criticized for being inadequate. According to an article on Dogpatch Press, "the fandom's response to pedophilia has been inconsistent and often inadequate" and "some furries have been known to defend or downplay the actions of pedophiles" (https://dogpatch.press/2019/07/24/how-furries-resist-a-commercialized-fandom-part-3/). This lack of accountability and failure to take decisive action against pedophiles within the fandom is unacceptable.

Another issue within the fandom is the presence of hate groups, such as the Altfurry movement. According to Dogpatch Press, "the Altfurry hate group who were rejected by the fandom in 2017-2018" and have been known to troll and harass members of the fandom (https://dogpatch.press/2019/07/24/how-furries-resist-a-commercialized-fandom-part-3/). This kind of behavior is not only toxic but also damaging to the fandom's reputation.

The fandom has also been criticized for its lack of diversity and inclusivity. According to an article on Dogpatch Press, "classism is a problem in the furry fandom" and "cons always need more volunteers for operations or to put on panels and make their content better" (https://dogpatch.press/2019/07/24/classism-in-the-furry-fandom-an-opinion-by-nightf0x/). This lack of diversity and inclusivity can make it difficult for new members to join the fandom and feel welcome.

Furthermore, the fandom has been criticized for its handling of online safety and harassment. According to an article on Safer Schools, "remind them that anyone they interact with online may not be telling the truth about who they are" and "go over online safety habits to ensure they are comfortable acting on them" (https://www.safer-schools.org/lets-talk-about-furries/). This is especially important in a fandom that has been associated with pedophilia and zoophilia.

In conclusion, the Furry Fandom has a number of negative aspects that need to be addressed. The prevalence of pedophilia and zoophilia, the presence of hate groups, lack of diversity and inclusivity, and poor handling of online safety and harassment are all major issues that need to be confronted. Until these issues are addressed, the fandom will continue to be viewed negatively by outsiders.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...at-furry-parties-by-man-who-wore-fox-costume/

A 2017 article from The Washington Post reported on a disturbing case of child abuse at a furry party in Maryland. A man, who was a member of the furry community and wore a fox costume, was accused of sexually abusing a minor who was attending the party with his parents. The suspect was arrested and charged with multiple counts of child sex abuse. This incident highlights the need for the furry community to prioritize the safety and well-being of all its members, particularly children, and to have strict policies and guidelines in place to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Every furry knows this already, whether they are willing to admit it or not.

Furry fandom was never clean, ever, at all, going all the way back to it's birth in the 1980s.

The reason for this is the vast majority of furries also have huge lists of fetishes. There were, supposedly, attempts to push dogfuckers and cubs out of the fandom, but in reality a lot of furries just look the other way and everybody knows somebody who fucks dogs or gets off to softpaw. They also have a huge autistic population among their ranks.

This hasn't been helped by the massive influx of troons to the furry fandom. If anything they and their affirmation and acceptance rhetoric has made the situation much worse.

Furries in my experience largely leave you alone if you leave them alone. There are plenty of furries who prefer communities like KF or ED over the usual furry hotspots for the same reasons we do. They'd rather put up with the nonstop retards constantly telling them to yiff in hell than deal with the fake, sanitised experience of the mainstream platforms like FurAffinity or the ever tightening grip of Discord.

If this is your attempt to scare off kiwifurs, you're only setting yourself up to be the center of the drama when they do show up.

The furry fandom started in the 1970s and 1980s, with the first furry convention, Confurence 0, held in 1989. The term "furry fandom" was first used in the 1980s, and the fandom grew rapidly in the 1990s with the advent of the internet. The fandom is primarily focused on anthropomorphic animals, but it has also been associated with a sexual side, known as "yiff." However, not all members of the fandom participate in or condone this aspect.

I in totally agreement with you on the major issue with the Fandom. It's unwillingness to moderate it's self.

Exactly the fandom has been overrun with gender politics. Worse it's a haven for for pedophiles and tranny sex pests.

True and when they do come to websites like kiwi farms they get involved in animal sex role play (I have screenshots) also it's worth note kiwifarms has a mountain of zoo torture porn.

others engage in gay ops and intentionally rile up other users. And are known for raiding places that are not pro furry.

Your friend @KampungBoy
Asked for content so I'm obliging him.

This doesn't surprise me at all because furry shit revolves around spending money on costumes and drawings, there's not much in it for someone with a shallow wallet.
I think it's the fact that they're unwilling to moderate their own community so they end up accepting everybody and this includes the dregs that eventually end up causing even more problems for their fandom. Then there's the fact that they constantly excuse zoophiles.

When wasn't being a furry and a zoophile the same thing?
Yes there really isn't any different except much like lolicon apologists. They try to use semantics and what about-isms.
To make appear it's not you think it is.
Simply put the claim is no zoo because it's humanized or anamorphic animals. Like a human looking dog.
It's again similar to Loli arguments claiming it's just a fictional child.

Some furries are zoophiles and some aren't.

There are also zoophiles who aren't furries.
I ask you then what is the difference between wanting to fuck if somebody dressed up in a full dog costume pretending to be a dog and fucking a real dog. Yes I know one involves an actual animal. And the other one involves somebody pretending to be fucking an animal.

The difference is murrsuiters (people who fuck in fursuits) are sexually attracted to fursuits whereas zoophiles (people who fuck animals) are sexually attracted to animals and/or have an animal torture fetish.

Murrsuiters are an extremely small part of the furry fandom. Furry zoophiles vastly outnumber them.

Yes again you miss it. When somebody is an animal costume. It is just pseudobestality. It you're still pretending you have some form of sex involving some form of representation of an animal. Fursuiters are just less honest zoo's

The vast majority of fursuiters don't have sex in their fursuits. That's why there's a separate word for people who do, murrsuiters.

You can scrape WikiFur all you want. There are some aspects of furry fandom that you simply wouldn't know unless you spent years among furries.

You have a very /b/tarded view of furry fandom, which is interesting considering you pretend to not know what an imageboard is.

Furries are technically pseudobesiality
How is it not? It's people pretending to have sex while pretending to be an an animal irregardless of the human qualities and characteristics applied to said fantasy.
