Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne
One of the few JRPGs I've ever completed, put the game on hard and enjoy a punishing battle system that doesn't rely on unfair tricks to win. Great story and really cool character designs.
The game gets rid of a lot of or streamlines a lot of shit I despise in RPGs like item management and introduces the press turn battle system which is a fantastic way of rewarding memorization and tactical thinking. Conversation is kept to a minimum, the game doesn't waste your time with bullshit you don't care about, the cast of characters is pretty small but because of that the game really gets to focus on every character you meet. It's an apocalyptic rpg with hundreds of teammates and an interesting story.
Also its soundtrack is fucking killer:
