Redditor discovers why Twitter's ad revenue has tanked by 99% since Musk took over. Gets downvoted anyway, because it's against the unwritten rules of r/twitter to actually use Twitter.

Btw, that whole subreddit is a laugh to lurk through.

Update

As a cherry on the top worth reposting, a 140 IQ reply comes in:

>it’s unethical to spend money on ad revenue there
>Bluesky. They don’t have ads yet, but the engagement is better.

How does Troonsky make money again? Oh right, they don't.

Musk fired anyone who mattered, and those with brains who didn't fall victim to the multiple culls left of their own volition. There's nobody there to actually maintain the site, which has multiple layers of legacy code and technology in it's foundation.

Musk is a billionaire narcissist, so naturally after telling all the big name advertisers to fuck off, the little guys and their ad buys are a meaningless amount of revenue to him. I mean, money is money and he should be taking peoples' money, but that would require him to hire more developers and/or go suck the dicks of the ones he pushed out so the ad buy workflow could actually function properly. The thing is, Musk doesn't know how to run a company, because if he did these problems would not exist. He paid 50 billion dollars for platform to say whatever he wants without fear of being banned, and everything beyond that doesn't matter to him.

For the record, it's unethical to spend money on ad buys anywhere, because ads by their very nature are designed to manipulate people into buying/using the product advertised. It doesn't really matter if you're spending that money on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, whatever. They're all run by greedy scumbags with the common goal of extracting as much monetary benefit from the user base as possible. That Musk appears to be in it for reasons other than money is irrelevant. The leadership of all other major platforms are just as dirty as he is, and you buying ads on any of these platforms is equally dirty.

Sounds like their code is spaghetti garbage if it's that complicated just to add images or videos to an ad. Whatever, if Musk can't be bothered to hire someone to spend a few hours to fix his ad creation webpages, and get most of his Twitter revenue back. It sucks to suck.

But who cares, when you're the world's most successful scammer and you've got billions more in money to throw away. Right?

I've never bought ads on Twitter nor any other social media.

By the way, Twitter has no way to contact human support. Not through emails, phone, form, etc. Your only chance is by mentioning Elon or an employee in a tweet, and the employees will likely block you for doing that. Or perhaps you could try sending physical snail mail to their headquarters.

So, maybe Musk and his staff legitimately haven't connected the dots. That their ad webpage has been broken since June. Because they don't accept user feedback.

You know a platform is dead when it only consists of whores, politics, Facebook memes and incels.
I'd be willing to buy Twitter off of Elon Musk for $10,000, host the site off of several Intel Core 2 servers built in 2006 in Panama, and manually fix the ad creation page by myself, if he agrees.

Why would Elon Musk want to become a serial killer, when he has enough money to start his own private military company?

I'm sorry in advance for throwing this cursed idea out there, on the off chance that he will pick it up. But I'm sure he's already thought about it, anyway.

I could see that actually working lol. I should try appealing one of my pre-Elon bans
This might be slight powerleveling but:
I used to have two Twitter accounts, one being my ex-girlfriend's Twitter account that she had given me. Which she had filled with 1000s of slutty posts and porn retweets/tweet-quotes. Deleted both of them earlier this year, when I realized how useless the site is for trying to free advertise or drive traffic to another website (Because 95% of "X" users are bots that will not go to other websites).

Incidentally, I dumped my ex a couple days after she gave me her Twitter account.

I don't see the point of using the site, unless maybe you have an existing account with 1000+ followers at least. My main account had 500 followers before I deleted it and it still felt pointless, like they were mostly bots. I could not bend the account to make it useful somehow, and it was too small to monetize.

If you do appeal by mail, share your result because I've never heard of anyone even doing that.

To read Trump's tweets, of course, since you need an account to do that now.
What Tweets, is he posting there now? You're thinking of Truth Social.

Is he seriously posting on there again now though? He didn't post for years except for his arrest.

I checked on the one nitter instance that still works sometimes and you're right, he is posting. Sorry, I legit didn't know.

Just fyi in case you're wondering why I tend to always be shitting on Musk: I've never liked him and him moving to the political right didn't change that much. Also renaming Twitter to "X" was dumb (then again so was buying Twitter, should have just let it have a financial crisis and hopefully die).

He's a narcissist visionary who was born into immense wealth that came to his father on the backs of child labor in an industry that is essentially rigged. The very concept of having a website called X, the first attempt of which was the predecessor to PayPal, is a really dumb one. The Musk and Twitter situation reminds me a lot of what Ken is trying to do with Onion Farms. Imagine how much of a successful failure OF could (not would) be if Ken had emerald mine riches instead of the meager fudge wiper salary he's stuck with.

He's not really right wing though, and neither is is butt buddy Trump. He's arguably better in every way than Trump though, being the owner and CEO of both SpaceX and Tesla, two wildly successful companies, but he still manages to get himself into trouble at seemingly every turn. Trump is going to do him a solid though and get the government off his back. That's the real reason behind his support of the Republican party. Neither of these rich white men believe in conservative ideology, they have simply identified the right wing as a suitable vehicle for their agendas.

If I wanted to troll, I could argue that Trump is a moderate. But meh. They're both on the right-wing currently, especially economically. Elon is playing games with pretending to be a Fascist. But it is true, some of Trumps social positions are not conservative, or he jumps around on them. He is not strong on things like abortion or vs the LGBT, based on past experience.

But the point is like, he is running against people who think you should be able to be a gay tranny and have open orgies in the military, and such shit. Compared to them, Trump is a "Fascist" (not really).

*Not that I'm particularly against being gay in the military, you shouldn't be having heterosexual sex there either. It's supposed to be a military, not a night club.

Yeah, I'm sure the old Twitter users who didn't consent to having all of their posts fed into Musk's xAI/"Grok" just love this. Especially the ones that lost access to their accounts a long time ago.

By the way:
Twitter acquisition cost: $44 billion by Musk & investors
xAI company costs to create: $20 billion by investors

Twitter current profit per quarter: $125 million estimate (being optimistic), decreasing
xAI current profit per quarter (not including from investors): $0

You do the math on how many years it's going to take xAI to pay for itself, and I mean that also in terms of paying the investors back their value on investment.

If the investors at Tesla and xAI throwing money at Musk could just grow a few brain cells, this party would be over fast. :optimistic:
