So I have a UniFi 802.11ac access point. I'm not sure what 802.11ac translates to in marketing wank, but I've had this thing for at least 4 years now and it was used when I got it.
The problem is the 5ghz radio randomly stops working. The past few months it'd just die and I would have to power cycle the thing and it'd work fine for a month. Now 5ghz is just dead and the 2.4ghz side has pretty choppy performance.
So I need to replace this thing. I'm not too keen on new UniFi gear. The company has changed direction and is not the feature packed value they once were. Not to mention the need to use their management server software just to change settings that I literally set once and forget. I just don't need the hassle.
What should I replace it with?
