I've rebuilt a few Simpson-type electronic control automatic transmissions. They're full of solenoids and those are literally the easiest part. On some models you don't even have to remove the valve body to get the solenoids out.
If you can't handle keeping your work bench clean, or you're working in the dirt like a
bathing in a mud puddle, you probably should get someone else to do it for you. Keeping parts clean is really basic shit and applies to everything from AC compressors to wheel bearings.On some transmissions its more cost effective to change the entire valve body as a unit. Subaru CVTs are especially easy being right on top just behind the engine. This is so fucking easy a teenager could do it with nothing more than basic tools and a YouTube tutorial.
